Hello, I'm Maria, a multi-passionate creative whose journey began with photography and eventually led to a love for painting in watercolors, acrylics, and oils.
I was very eager to refine my skills and learn to paint lush artwork with a visual story. I enrolled in the Milan Art Institute's Mastery Program, where I deepened my craft and learned new techniques that liberated my artistic expression.
Inspired by nature’s magic, stories (like The Secret Garden, The Wonderful Wizard of Oz, and so many more!), beautiful lights, symbols, and romantic-style handwriting, I seek to weave stories of these everyday wonders into creations with a magical and whimsical feel!
My studio is located in Valparaiso, Indiana. I find comfort in enjoying my cup of hot coffee in the early morning, watching my wild birds like blue jays and crows, taking daily walks outside, and tending to my magical garden full of roses, catmint, sunflowers, and moonflowers!
When I am not creating, I love working on my Find Your Magic Newsletter, connecting with my collectors and fellow artists, and reading Magical Realism Books. I also enjoy a good laugh from Tv shows like The Office. My husband and teens, along with my two pups, cats, lizards, and chickens, keep me busy too.
The Magic of Flowers
The Magic of Flowers is an illustrated guide, with personal stories, folklore, symbolism and diy practices with flowers, like how to create a fresh flower bouquet.
While it's not an identification guide or a how-to- care for particular flowers, there are lots of visual, calming and present moment practices with flowers.
It's perfect for people who love art and nature. It's also perfect for those who like to practice being in the present moment.
